Gary Ljungquist

Gary Ljungquist is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and engineer hailing from Putnam County, NY. He played his first professional gig at the age of 13. He graduated high school with honors in the preforming arts and received a talent scholarship on guitar to attend the College of Saint Rose under the instruction of the capital region Jazz virtuoso, Jack Fragomeni. As a freshman, Gary was highered to play solo classical guitar at the receptions in the Esther Massary Art Gallary. It was at the college that Gary co-founded and played guitar for the short lived, yet highly regarded Try Sarah Topps. TST played with regional acts such as Timbre Coup, Mirk and the New Familiars, Afficianado, Free Henry, Railbird; and national acts such as We The Kings. TST was featured in a full page, full color spread in the Times Union, headlining, "Monster Potential."

Upon disbandment of the group after his sophomore year, Gary interned for various local record labels and focused more energy towards production. He worked as a part time studio assistant at his school's, Saints and Sinners Sound Studios as well as various projects out of his home project studio and recently began working as an audio tech under gold, platinum and grammy winning producer/ engineer Peter Moshay, on "Live from Daryl's House." The show features Daryl Hall of Hall and Oats, as he plays with various artists including Train, Booker T, Plain White T's, Grace Potter, and many more in his own home. Gary also worked as an assistant for Sweatshop Studios (Notable for the recording of Santana and Rob Thomas' rendition of "sunshine of your Love") in Katonah, NY were he was given his first gig as a session musician, playing bass for a NYC soul/rock group. He now plays bass for the Albany based group, The 7th Squeeze who play some of the top night clubs and venues in the area, work closely with Micheal Borkosky (Canadian Idol producer, Black Velvet) and work inovativly with rapper, Jay Plus, on the side project, 7plus. Gary is slated to graduate in spring of 2012. He will be releasing his senior project as his first solo release. Gary will be the featured guitarist, bassist and mandolinist as well as composer, producer, session and mix engineer.
